TAGStention for Dreamweaver

TAGStention is a very good Dreamweaver extension for creating custom WordPress themes and templates. It includes features such as wizards for tags with parameters, support for 90% of the WordPress tags, inserting basic loops, inserting headers, and support for Ultimate TagWarrior.

Dreamweaver extension for WordPress Templates

This Dreamweaver extension adds a toolbar to your menu for inserting commonly used WordPress code snippets. It includes the PHP code objects for Vcard, loop, header, include and others.

In addition, there are many contract blogging jobs posted on freelance boards. I’ve listed many of the most popular below.

Elance - The largest online freelance site. Probably the best site if you want a large professional job. However if you are looking at a smaller job or you want to cut costs to the bone you may be better off with Rentacoder or Scriptlance. Elance charges the freelance providers to just be listed on the site, whereas Rentacoder and Scriptlance only charge the providers once a project has been selected.

Rentacoder - Probably the second largest coding freelance site. Worth checking out. When you get a project done through Rentacoder you put the entire project fees into an escrow account. You don’t release the fees until the project is complete. This is good because it gives reassurance to the coder that they are going to pay you, but it also can be difficult if you have a large project, because you have to pay the entire amount into an escrow account, although you can put the project into stages and pay based on each stage.

Scriptlance - This site has the lowest costs but it doesn’t have some of the features of Elance and Rentacoder. Not as professional but good if you want really cheap coding.

A common strategy among social network spammers marketers is to join a network, build a minimal profile (or a fake profile), acquire as many “friends” as possible and then proceed to Twitter, poke, spam the bulletins and walls, and give gifts until they have alienated nearly all of the members and branded themselves as a nuisance, or gotten banned from the network. It’s just social media spam and it’s rampant. Using social networks to intentionally manipulate and misrepresent might yield some short-term gain, but will do long-term damage to your brand. It’s rare that I get a message from Netscape, StumbleUpon, MyBlogLog, Entrecard and other networks that isn’t a pitch for something without so much as an introduction. While there are no well defined social networking rules, using common sense will go a long way in using social media to your benefit.

No … you no spammy the networks. The way that you participate in social networks can make or break your personal brand. A better way to use social networks is to open up lines of communication with people, establish and build relationships, and get people to notice you. Here are a few tips on establishing your personal brand on social networks.

CPA stands for “cost per action.” The action is the site visitor filling out the form. Compared to traditional affiliate marketing, it is often a much easier and more lucrative way to monetize a website.

Traditional affiliates have a tougher job. They have to get the traffic, presell the product, and send visitors to the vendor through an affiliate link, hoping to generate something like 1% to 5% sales. Conversions are highly dependent on the vendor’s sales letter and product. If the vendor does a poor job of selling, or has an overpriced or poorly received product, the affiliate has spent a lot of time, and perhaps money, for very little return.

A CPA affiliate also has to get the traffic, either by paying for it, or by putting together a well-optimized site that gets good search engine placement for certain key words. The site visitor fills out a form requesting information, rather than making a decision to purchase at that point. All it entails is that the visitor “request free information” and provide his or her name, email address, and maybe a physical address.

The CPA affiliate gets paid for providing a lead, rather than a sale. Many businesses pay well for leads. They plan on maximizing the long-term value of their customers. For instance, one lead can generate a commission of thousands of dollars to a mortgage broker. An insurance or credit card account is worth recurring commissions potentially for many, many years and even a ring tone lead has a long-term value, since the vendor will continue to market to that person over and over again, selling them many times what it cost to acquire them as a customer.

CPA is one of the best ways to monetize your websites. To really do well at CPA, you need to learn how to use traffic generation methods like Google Adwords effectively, and to build search engine optimized landing pages, but in the long run, CPA can be more lucrative than traditional affiliate marketing. “The awful truth about marketing is that it broadcasts messages to people who don’t want to listen…. much of business communication is written in contrived and artificial language, supposedly designed to impress, but actually signaling just how impersonal the firm and its professionals are.”

I see so many of the long, hypey big red lettered sales letters and still wonder how that type of marketing can be successful. I know that many “gurus” use them and make money, but in my opinion, you aren’t reaching a large part of the market through this method of communication. Basically, you’re reaching an audience who is looking for a “dream in a box” solution and willing to believe anything that promises that.

To me … and maybe it’s just me, I find those type of sales letters to be more annoying than persuasive. It’s packaged marketing, spoken in a fake voice and often uses scare tactics and unfounded promises to reel their customers in. Many marketers see marketing as a one-sided dialogue … nothing more than a propaganda campaign. This type of marketing rarely answers any questions I might have about the product.

The marketer that is able to reach his market in a real voice and engage his audience in a two-way dialogue is the marketer who is going to be able to build trust and relationships that convert into sales. In the offline world of marketing, where you meet your prospective clients, you have a greater opportunity to employ Conversational Marketing. Instead of giving yet another boring presentation, you can have a question and answer session. In a personal one-on-one presentation, you can give your prospects a handout and then instead of launching into a one-way dialogue of your capabilities and contract issues, see if you can engage your prospect in a conversation to determine what his problems and needs are.

That is what marketing is all about, really … finding a problem or need and offering a solution. If you want to deepen your existing business relationships and build loyalty (and generate additional business), you need to have ongoing conversations with your clients about the things going on in their business or life and how you might help them to solve their problems or meet their needs.

Having conversations with prospective customers when your business is online

Instead of making your website little more than an electronic brochure, turn your website into an interactive media offering advice, ideas, and commentary on trends. You can also use “how valuable was this” buttons and surveys to engage your readers in a conversation and get their ideas and opinions.

Some other ideas for adding interactivity to your blog and encouraging reader participation are:

1. Allow Readers to Be Experts
Choose readers with an intelligent posting history to become category experts, answering reader questions on their topic via email and, in return, give them a link back to their site on your “experts” page.

2. Schedule Group Chats
Schedule a weekly web chat using the chat medium of your choice. Set aside a time and make sure you let your readers know what timezone you are in for international readers. Good for getting to know your readers.

3. Allow Commenters to Guest Blog
Select the month’s best commenter (you can even choose by poll) and allow the winner to guest post. This can encourage readers to post intelligently and more often.

4. Ask Your Readers
Instead of always providing information for your readers, ask your readers questions or ask for tips on a certain topic. They submit their answers and tips via commenting. You could then post the results with all of the best tips and comments provided. You can also have your readers suggest topics that they would be interested in reading.

5. Add a forum to your blog
It’s simple to add a forum to your blog using one of the free online forums available. It’s a great idea for building community and going into more depth on topics than your blog allows. Also a great way for you and the readers to get to know each other.

Instead of a newsletter, use a blog to share your ideas on topics relating to your target market. It’s much more interactive than a newsletter. Critical to a blog’s success is a feature that not only allows, but encourages people to post replies. Reply to the repliers and analyze which topics are being read the most.It’s really hard to sustain a conversation, especially on a blog, when you don’t have anything interesting to say. Don’t just blog about the same things everyone else is blogging about, regurgitating the same rehashed info that you can find on hundreds of other blogs. It’s boring and it’s basically, just filler. Sit down and think about your topics and write something unique that isn’t hyped all over the Internet … and yes, I said write. That doesn’t mean copy from elsewhere and reword to avoid duplicate content … that means write, in your own voice with your own personality shining through. When all is said and done, that is the way you are going to build a successful blog and a successful online business.

Going to PayPerPost to the available opportunities for a blog that hasn’t acquired A-list status yet, I find review after review for $5-$10. The graphic to the left is today’s “Featured” opportunities. The $35 one requires that your blog be at least a pagerank 5 — ha ha ha —. Are they not aware of the Google slap that stripped some of the top blogs of a lot of their pagerank? And do they think that an A-list blog will review them for $35? Not likely. Quite simply, I’m not going to do an in-depth review of someone else’s product or website for 5 bucks. That isn’t the way I want to position this blog. I spend a lot of time writing content and a paid review is not exception. My last paid review was 450 words with two graphics and numerous backlinks to pages within the site. It is well written and I had to research the site and company before writing about it. It’s on another blog I write, but I was paid $25 for it and that is acceptable to me. I can live with that at this time, but if these companies think they’ll get that level of attention for a measly 5 bucks, it won’t be here. You also cannot list more than one blog until you’ve accepted and completed 10 reviews. I’m also limited to 10 reviews per month …. hahahahahahahahahahahah … I seriously doubt that I’ll find ten reviews a month that I’m interested in.

Review Me is another one that had declined my application and has now accepted it. They no longer have an affiliate program in place, so new blogs cannot display that graphic that tells you how much a review is on this blog with a link to order one. If you are in the general marketplace but don’t yet qualify for the “premium” marketplace, you can’t even set your own price. You can’t even browse the marketplace to hunt for opportunities. You get accepted and then sit around and hope someone chooses your blog out of thousands to make an offer to, and I don’t even have a clue as to how much they have me listed for … the price that they list me for may be unacceptable to me.

Now we come to SponsoredReviews. I recently joined them and was immediately accepted for a $25 review on my sports blog … that’s the 450 review I was talking about. Not only do they list some quality advertisers, but you can browse the marketplace and bid on the reviews you’re interested in. You can also set your own price and list as many blogs as you think will qualify. I currently have four of my blogs listed with them to cover different niches. This one appears to be the most promising of the bunch so far.

I’ve recently been accepted by Smorty … very recently. I found very few opportunities listed there, but it’s too soon to evaluate Smorty, so I won’t go into any detail until I’ve had more time to check it out.

OIOPublisher is a new and very interesting concept in selling your blog real estate. I recently posted about OIOPublisher here. Today is the announcement day for a contest I entered to win a free copy of OIO. If I don’t win, I’m going to pay the one-time price of $37 for OIO and give it a whirl. I like the idea of getting rid of the middleman altogether and selling your blog reviews and ads independently. If OIO has a viable and thriving advertiser marketplace, they just may be the best option yet. I will post about it when I’ve actually got the script and know how it works in greater detail.

I was selling Text Link Ads but found that I haven’t really earned nearly enough money with them to risk Google’s powerful and almighty wrath. I’m still with Kontera, testing out the benefits and also new to Chitika MiniMalls, testing out their program.

If you are selling text ads, ad space or reviews on your blog, this great little plugin (for wordpress) cuts the middle man right out. When word really spreads about this plugin, you can kiss those services good-bye. Instead of taking commissions from your earnings, OIOpublisher charges a one-time fee of $37 for the plugin. I purchased it and have it installed now.

Zero Commission Taken: Keep 100% of the revenue for every sale made. Many other networks take up to 50% commission per sale made. That adds up to quite a nice chunk of change you’re missing out on!

More Sales Options: Most other services feature only one option so you have to have one account to sell Text Ads and another account to sell paid reviews. With OIOpublisher you can sell whatever combination you choose.

Instant Payments: When a purchase is made, the money is yours…. simple as that!


Installation is simple. There is a “Business” tab on your dashboard once installed. The PHP code for the non widget wordpress is listed on the main Business Tab. Simply paste it within my sidebar and it will do the rest or use the widget version! The screen shot here shows links after each purchase to purchase links in a specific post. You choose your price, the length of time an ad or link will run and the plugin does the rest.

Right now the marketplace does not have a lot of blogs listed … but surprisingly, John Chow and the Cow guy are both using it. I noticed that I have been seeing the Cow ad on a lot of smaller blogs … well, OIOpublisher is the reason. It appears that not only does he list his blog, but he purchases a bunch of ad spots.

You can of course, set the plugin to allow you to approve the ad before payment is made so that inappropriate ads won’t be purchased. Additionally, you can also set it to allow your own affiliate program for your links and ads, paying others a commission to sell your ad spots, reviews and links.

Conclusion: This plugin is very new and it appears that they have a lot of plans for marketing it and further development, based on customer feedback. With the lackluster offerings from the services that take a commission, I suspect that this plugin will be very popular once the word spreads around. Why give away money to a middle man if you don’t have to? Download OIOpublisher and cut out that middle man!
